Hypoxis Pendant Lamp

The Hypoxis Pendant Lamp is a Kinetic Design product concept that will 1.) serve as an aesthetically pleasing lighting element for the home, 2.)  engage the user in a unique interactive experience, and 3.) help conserve energy resources. Designed to hang at approximately head level, the main body of the Hypoxis transforms from a closed ovoid shape into an open flower-like globe.  This transformation is achieved by means of a small control mechanism above the shade which also dictates the amount of current sent to the bulb.  This means that the level of brightness increases while the shade is also physically allowing more light to escape.  In this way, the kinetic action of the shade works in harmony with the functionality of the dimmer.
